Some Links about “The Shack”
“Uh huh. That Shack book! I knew that guy was a heretic!” Whoa there, Kemosabe. I haven’t even read the book. But one thing I am serious about is making sure that proper information about a subject finds its way to daylight. USA Today did an article on the author Paul Young a few days back. You can read it here. Wayne Jacobsen, an author and minister, published the book (Windblown Media) and has some wonderful books himself. Wayne’s books have personally changed my life. He answers questions about the controversy surrounding the book at his blog here. Have fun!
And please don’t comment about how this book is the last sign of the apostasy. As far as I’m concerned, any book Mark Driscoll hates has got to be good…
Update: I read ”The Shack” a few weeks later and commented on it from a theological perspective here.

I ordered the shack and had it sent to Thailand. After reading some reviews and Jacobsen’s post, I’m thinking it might be a great read…and a possible read for my devotion class at school! Thanks for the links!

I was set not to like the book, The Shack but after reading it, I thought it was really good and thought provoking. All the time I read it, I kept thinking it needs a study to go along with it. I finally decided God was urging me to write a study which I did. If anyone would like it, email me at prayerdigm.bookstudy@yahoo.com. I would be glad to send you the study. You are welcome to use it and copy it for others.

My sister was blown away by this book and so I felt I must read it but haven’t gotten it yet. When I went online to look it up I ended up reading seething horrible, venomous, reviews by Christians. I now have a stomach ache and wonder how I ended up in the same religion with such people. If God is love why are so many Christians so hateful on a daily basis?

Hi Mimi –
Yeah, the Shack certainly tends to upset the more “religious” among us. What amazes me are the ones that will discount the Shack based on a doctrinal preference rather than seeing the good it’s doing as a whole. Do I agree with everything in The Shack? No, but it sure is bringing people closer to Jesus. How can that be a bad thing?
Thanks for commenting…
