“Sambo, just what do you believe anyway? You’re kinda weird aren’t you…”
Really, people. It’s not that confusing. I affirm the Nicene Creed. I am head over heels in love with Jesus. I reserve a large place for the Holy Spirit in the Christian walk.
For a more in-depth view of my theological “leanings,” read this (my personal journey) followed by this (my theological preferences).
Very very good article on Alcohol! And I used to be the first one to spout off, dragging my Saviour into things, “Christ turned the water into Wine, so, here, let me pour myself another”……….Well, after spending 25 yrs drinking the stuff, severely damaging mine & my late husbands health, then doing some serious research, apparently the wine Jesus made had about a max of .05% of alcohol in it. But, that aside, we basically abused our bodies by drinking the crap, very healthy strong bodies God gave us. Besides the fact that there are NO cures for many of these illness’s, I continually bring up in prayer, begging forgiveness, as I’M RESPONSIBLE for this stupidity & health defect! Almost like a Suicide !!!
Liquor is just one of MANY attractive tools Satan’s Minions have available to use against us, hither & yon !!
Watch out ! There’s NO ryme or reason, no age requirement, healthy or not health, rich or poor, black or white, just BAM !! (Gotcha, snicker snicker!!)
We have smoke detectors, burgler alarms, security locks, need I go on?
But nothing to warn of health damage BEFORE having a drink!
People need to examine the entire COST, PRIOR to downing the stuff !!!
Sheila –
For everyone else. Sheila is referring to a link on Christians and Alcohol I posted…
Thanks for the comments amd you’re willingness to share your life experiences here. You’re right, even though the Bible has verses celebrating alcohol and others that speak against drunkenness, it’s each person’s responsibility to live their life in way the they believe is pleasing to the Lord. You’ll be happy to know that I don’t drink at all – not because I equate all drinking with sin (thought drukenness is different) but simply because there are alot of people out there who believe drinking of any sort is wrong and others who have struggled with addiction. To me, part of loving my neighbor is respecting their feelings.
God bless you as you follow the Lord. Your love and zeal for God is evident!
Sam
Sam, it is quite encouraging to see you and your family on WordPress. I am a Baptist girl learning the ropes of ‘religion’, and it has been an interesting journey. Best wishes!
